The editor-in-chief of the world’s premier Linguistics journal (Lingua) published by Elsevier, Rooryck led the entire editorial team in resigning as a protest to Elsevier’s pricing and editorial interference. The editors went on to successfully start the replacement journal Glossa in 2016 as a completely Open Access publication with sponsorship from several groups. (Rooryck, 2016) The fact that this transition was successful in becoming an OA publication is a notable reason to include Rooryck.
